Hi! I’ve been blogging for a long time (6 years? Maybe 7?) and recently decided that it would be a good idea to start doing it anonymously. See, I like to write about my kids a lot (which I guess makes me a mommyblogger, at least in part), but as they’re getting older, I want to make sure classmates and what have you can’t just Google names and read stories about how this one time? One of my sons pranced around in my daughters pink Disney princess mules, wearing matching sunglasses, and carrying a matching purse.
I like to torture my kids, but not like that.
So, I was forced to come up with nicknames for everyone. I’m not very good with the whole nicknaming thing, but hey, it is what it is. I’ve tried to keep them simple.
Aimlesslee – Thassa me. I’m a thirty-something (gah!) mom of three. I like to write, read, and watch inordinate amounts of reality television. I’m also a movie hound. I’m fairly liberal on most issues, conservative on a couple. I’m not religious. I was born in the South, and though I no longer live there, I’ll always be a Southern gal at heart.
The Husband, The Hubs, That Man – I refer to him as many things, mostly depending on my mood. No matter what I’m calling him, he’s my best friend and partner in child wrangling.
The Girl – My only daughter, and my eldest, born in August, 1999. As she’s nearing her pre-teen years, she’s starting to display some of the ‘tude that I’ve known was coming and have been dreading since the day she was born.
The Goop – My first son, born in July, 2005. He’s a handful, and probably the reason my husband recently found a white hair on my head. I’ve nicknamed him this because of a book I had when I was a kid, Are You a Goop? I asked him that once, after he had climbed up to the top of the fridge to get at the cookies, and he loudly proclaimed, “I’m NOT a Goop!”
Little Man – My youngest, born in January, 2009. When he was first born, my husband liked to tell people he looked just like a little old man. I’ve been calling him Little Man ever since. I’m sure he’ll eventually be a Goop, too, but he’s not getting the name.
